Schools are starting to embrace the new Primary Framework for Literacy, and ICT forms a significant part of the new guidance. The CLCs can support schools as they come to terms with this by offering quality Learning Opportunities for pupils, and guidance and Professional Development for teachers. All activities link with specific year groups and involve collaboration with school practitioners.

This opportunity links with non-fiction - Unit 1 of the Year 3 framework. As part of the unit, children write their own simple report in school.

When they visit the CLC, pupils will be given the opportunity to find appropriate images from the web. These images can be combined with their narrated reports to complete a simple pod cast that combines the images, narration and even a simple soundtrack.

Who can take part in this opportunity?	This learning activity is suitable for approximately 30 pupils.
When is this opportunity available?	Throughout the academic year 2007 – 2008 Book early to avoid disappointment.
Duration of the opportunity	This Opportunity takes a full day to complete
Where will your class work?	St Helens City Learning Centre, Rainhill.
Expectations of the class teacher and preparations prior to your visit	The class teacher will have already introduced this Literacy topic to their pupils at school, and exposed them to a variety of examples from this genre. It is important that children come with written work to use in this activity.
Expectations of the Class teacher whilst at the CLC	Teaching and support staff will be expected to support their pupils as they work throughout the CLC using ICT and lead any additional Literacy elements of this unit.
How will CLC staff support this activity?	CLC staff will lead the ICT elements throughout the day for both pupils and support staff. All zones booked will be made ready for your class.
Resources required	Your students will need to bring with them written work to provide a stimulus for their activities at the CLC.
Refreshments	Schools need to ensure that pupils bring a packed lunch and drinks (water only) with them if the learning activity runs over lunch time.
Travel Costs	The CLC will contribute half of the travel cost that you book through a competitively priced coach company.
