This fantastic Learning and Teaching Zone was developed in July 2007
incorporating a large raised demonstration area, an oven, a microwave,
an electric hob, digital scales a Rollo Oven, a Jacket Potato Oven incorporating
a Ban Marie and an abundance of kitchen equipment and paraphernalia.
This Zone is also equipped with a remote control camera capable of zooming
into a pan, mixing bowl etc and displaying this information on the large
screen in the room.
All demonstrations in this room can be recorded to DVD via this built
in camera. The DVD can then be used as part of coursework or to re-show
demonstrations at school. The Zone also houses PCs and laptops are available
for use in this Zone. Food Technology software 'Food in Focus' is installed
on our PCs and laptops throughout the City Learning Centre - a powerful
and extensive resource supported by the McCance and Widdowson's food database.
The software includes all major aspects of food and nutrition including
diet, recipe analysis and food labeling.
The City Learning Centre also offers an abundance of opportunities for
students to design and construct food packaging.
